”How can I help you?”
”I don’t need your help!”
"They why are we meeting?” Because we fear offending people's egos, we hesitate but should say
to a potential client: "How can I help you?" If they get defensive
and respond, "I don't need your help," pause and calmly say: "Then
why are we meeting?" Calmly pause again. This reality check can be a
good way of getting a potential client to keep their ego out of
working with you and it can help gain their respect. And the more
they respect you, the more they'll do what you advise them and the
better they'll treat you, including paying your bills. Tipping
towing around this obvious reason for meeting will only communicate
that you are intimidated.
