If you blind and deafen yourself to the authoritative people who want to help you, because of your resentment towards the authoritarian people who wanted to control you, it will make your life much more difficult than it has to be. And if you haven't noticed, life is already hard enough the way it is.
One of the key attributes of successful CEO’s and leaders I have worked with is that they are very coachable and take the input from people seriously, not personally. One told me that this came in particularly handy when working under a Fortune 100 CEO with a nickname that reflected his not being someone to suffer fools lightly or pull his punches.
To be successful, there is just too much to learn and know to NOT actively seek the input of knowledgable superiors, peers, subordinates, customers and clients. If you remain a rebel without a cause or a clue, you will constantly be learning everything the hard way and re-inventing the wheel when you don't need to. You'll also be someone without much chance of fulfilling your potential.
