Each year ABWA recognizes 10 members for outstanding
achievement in their careers, community involvement and
educational development. Those who are selected represent
ABWA and its ideals during a year of travel, public speaking
and mentoring.
As a Top Ten award winner, Jones is now eligible for
consideration as the 2003 American Business Woman of ABWA, an
award that will be announced Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Opening
Session of the Association's 2002 National Convention in
Nashville, Tenn.
The winners of this year's Top Ten Business Women of ABWA
honors were selected for their many career and philanthropic
achievements, as well as for their ability to demonstrate how
their involvement in the Association has contributed directly
to significant career achievements.
"The support and guidance I received from fellow ABWA members
over my 20-year membership has been instrumental in my
personal and business growth," says Jones, registered
investment advisor and president of NLJones, Inc., a financial
planning and asset management company. "Never before had I
belonged to an organization where female attorneys, plumbers,
teachers, auto mechanics and doctors come together to give
each other encouragement and a helping hand."
A member of ABWA since 1983, Jones has served on nearly every
committee and held most chapter offices for the Upland Route
66 Charter Chapter. Additionally, Jones chaired the 1995 ABWA
Pacific Regional Conference in Ontario, Calif. A financial
columnist, author of a financial planning book and named one
of the most influential people in the profession by Financial
Planning, Jones attributes much of her success to her
involvement with ABWA. "My fellow ABWA members have given me
confidence, shared in my grief, encouraged my dreams and been
there with hugs - whether I needed them or not, "she says.
