 I think grandparents should have more rights. I am raising a grandson with special needs. His father has had no contact with him for 6 years. Now that I aske dhim about 1 yr ago if he wanted to get to know his son and he agreed upon visits when the child wanted to. Now that he found out the boy is getting SSI he wants to be father of the year and wants custody in which I have had since the child was 2 years old but the child has lived with me since he was 2 months old. Now who has the right to raise this child? A man who is abisive or a loving grand mother who has rasied and made sure he got medical attetion when he needs it. They don't even give him his meds when he suppose to get them. How is a child suppose to survive in that kind of life? Thanks your time.
