Show me how to protect
her by showing her how to protect herself.
With his daughter going to college this
fall, a father has come to terms with his own past
youthful
exuberance and seductive ways, and the
possibility terrifies him. 1st Degree Black Belt Tae Kwon Do, &
Black Belt Karate and hand-to-hand combat fitness expert Chris Murray gives Dad
(or Mom) some moves to show your daughter to ensure she doesn't
become a statistic.
Dear Chris:
My daughter is heading off to college
this fall and I'm alarmed at the statistics regarding sexual
assault on campuses. I was once a college kid and I know
how my hormones raged and the pressure for conquest from
my fraternity brothers. My own reputation and smooth moves
are now coming back to haunt me. Now I have a daughter and
my view of the rights of passage has moved from admiration
to terror. Given how we were, it's as if I'm sending her
into a wolf den as a sacrificial lamb.
Can you give me direction on a few
self-defense moves I can teach her that she can use to head
off unwanted advances? I'm not naive and I'd like her to be
prepared. Assume he'll be drunk, and likely she may be
drinking as well. She's small, only 5' 3" and of average
physical strength. Sincerely, Concerned Father,
(M)44,
